Everyone we know seems to know Wembury beach. This painting is just about the lovely opposition between the distant extended view over the sea and the closer field of rocks and pools that are to its southern edge. When you are out exploring them there’s always a frisson between their strength and the fact that they will disappear under the rising tide. That, and the way the light can reflect in the same unifying way off of it all.
